Dear Parents and Students of the Somerset Skye Canyon Community,

Somerset Academy’s Vision statement is “Cultivating Effective Leaders, Good Character, and a Desire to Render Service.”  As part of living our vision, each month one grade level will be coordinating and organizing a community service event. 

Our Cardinals recognize that there are many people that are less fortunate than we are. Some of them might struggle to have the necessary food. This month 4th grade is coordinating a food drive.  We will be donating canned goods to local food banks. With the approaching holiday season there are many families that could use a little extra help.

For the month of November we will collect food donations to help those in need from November 1st to the 17th. Please bring any non-perishable food that you can spare to school. The homeroom teachers will collect these donations throughout the month. The cans that we collect will be delivered to local food banks. Thank you for your support in this month's charitable event.

4th Grade and the Somerset Community Service Committee

It is a school-wide expectation that every student does all of the following each week in i-Ready by Sunday:

1.   Spend at least 30 minutes per week on i-Ready in reading AND mathematics

2.  PASS at least one “My Path” lesson in reading

3.  PASS at least one “My Path” lesson in mathematics

Passing is a score of 67% or higher.  Students can access i-Ready by logging into their Clever account.  Please help us meet this goal by ensuring that your student(s) are working on i-Ready “My Path” lessons every week.  The “My Path” lessons are tailored to individual student needs.  Skills covered in the lessons are assigned based on your student’s level and performance on their most recent diagnostic test. Please contact your child’s teacher(s) if you have any questions about i-Ready.  Weekly completion of i-Ready will be a part of Learner Behavior (ES) and Citizenship (MS) grades.

Included below is a link to a video tutorial that shows how to check your student’s weekly progress on I-Ready.  We hope that this helps with your monitoring and support of these school-wide expectations.

SOMERSET ACADEMY OF LAS VEGAS – SKYE CANYON CAMPUS - is pleased to announce its participation in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). Somerset Academy of Las Vegas is taking advantage of the State of Nevada Universal Free Meals Program for the 2023-24 school year. Under the State of Nevada ARPA funds and USDA funding we are able to offer all enrolled students a FREE lunch.

 Parents/Guardians are highly encouraged preorder meals on a weekly basis for the dates listed on the order form. The form will be live from Wednesday-Friday every week.

Charities of the Month

Somerset’s Vision is A COLLEGE PREP SCHOOL- Cultivating Effective Leaders, Good Character, and a Desire to Render Service. In keeping with the charity of the month tradition in servicing our community partners, we will continue raising funds for specific charitable organizations. The organizations that we have chosen either are meaningful to a staff member or a student at our school. That being said, in order to participate in the dress-up days for the Charity of the Month, students must submit a donation using the following link. By paying the $20.00 donation fee, the student will be eligible to wear the specified shirt color and blue denim bottoms on the days listed below. The donations will be split evenly amongst the charities and a check will be sent to each organization. Students who do not pay the donation will not be eligible to participate. The link will remain open all year. Thank you for supporting our partners in our community! Every little bit counts!
